Pupils Found Interest in the Event “Online Payments – Are They Always Safe?”

On 5 March 2012, Lithuanian Consumer Institute organised an event "Online Payments - Are They Always Safe?" Its goal was to acquaint school children with advantages and threats of electronic payments. The event took place at the European Information Office of Seimas.

The event started with a welcome address speech by the vice chairman of the European Information Office of Seimas Petras Auštrevičius, and was followed by presentations on Non-cash Payment Instruments by Dr. Marius Laurinaitis, lecturer at the Electronic Business Department of Mykolo Romerio University, and on personal data protection by Dijana Šinkūnienė, the State Data Protection Inspectorate chief adviser.

The winners of "Invest into the Pizza" contest were awarded with prizes at the event.

The event "Online Payments - Are They Always Safe?" is part of the project "Consumers Awareness Raising on Non-cash Payment Fraud" and financially supported by the Programme on Prevention of and Fight against Crime 2009 and the Lithuanian Consumer Institute. Project partners - the Police Department under the Ministry of Interior and the Association of Lithuanian Banks.
